Park Rod (47RE)

Has anyone had the park rod NOT come out of the transmission when they dropped the valve body? The book says it should come out with the valve body but I had to take off the "E" clip that holds it to the rooster comb. Even with the valve body out I still cant get the rod out of the tranny. Am I missing something or is the book wrong in this regard? Thanks

I believe you have to rotate the output shaft for it to come out.

Rock the truck back and forth, it will come out.
Why are you removing it?

Why am I removing the park rod? Because I dropped the valve body to install a Trans Go shift kit and they said the park rod was supposed to drop with it but it stayed stuck in the case.

Leave it there if you can. It will be a little tricky getting the e clip back on, but you can do it. When ever I do a Valve body swap I usually leave it in.

Yeah I ended up leaving it in there. The "E" clip looks like it should be fun getting back on like that but i'll manage. Thanks

Mine slid out just fine but I can't get it back in. Is there a trick? I've been fighting with it for 3 hours now.

Thanks

As stated before, you should be able to rotate the drive shaft, wheels off the ground, and it will come out.
