opinions on source of fuel leak
My 1995 CTD has developed a severe fuel leak. The fuel is coming from the rear of the fuel pump and is directed at the block / head area. The fuel leak appears to be "pulsing". I'm not familiar with this pump so any idea where to start would be appreciated. Although the left side of my engine, the left frame rail, the front diff., etc are becoming clean this leak is becoming an expensive mess. - Steve

I would guess if its pulsing its after the lift pump.
From there it goes up to the filter canister then out of the canister to the p7100 then back to the tank. On these trucks its not uncommon to develop leaks in these lines and its really not a expensive fix to replace all the fuel lines with new rubber lines. Ensure you use a good diesel rated fuel line and replace them all (including the steel sections) from the frame rail forward and back to the frame rail (approx 6ft) Some of the leaks originate where the mounting brackets are welded to the steel lines.

Check the fuel return hose way up under the back side of the injection pump. Also if you dont have a braided line section on the metal line from the filter to the injection pump you might want to go to cummins for the updated part. mine cracked and left me stranded last summer.
