Onboard Air Compressor

Does anyone run an engine powered air compressor on their trucks? York air compressors were these neat little belt driven air compressors that were powered by the car's engine and made a lot of air. They came in Volvos and some Fords I think. I was wondering if anyone has an idea or knows information about adding an on board air compressor/system on a Cummins 12V.

Thanks,
Mark

I ended up going with an electric compressor. From what I have read there isnt much room on the 2nd gen 12v at least to put a motor drivin compressor. Maybe on a 1st gen there is. You should list what you have in your signature so we can give you more direct info if we can. anyway. From what I could find it looks like on 24valves the compressor is mounted on top of the altnerator. the altnerator on those motors I think is mounted lower then ours. I may be wrong in some of this but maybe it will help a little

Try this. There's a link in my post for what you want. Get your loan first. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=114421

I bought an onboardair system for a 24 valve and redid it to fit on the 12 valve. It worked fine but the bracket I made to replace the alt. bracket kept breaking he bolt. I think if you built a bracket to weld to the picking eye and the small bolt on the alt. bracket it would hold. I have since put it back on a 24 valve motor. The web sight is www.onboardair.com if you want to look.

The 780 case backhoe that has a b cummins in it has a aircompressor on it . There is a small pulley that is added and it is bolted to the flat spot on the engine at front. It is not real big just enoght to power the air brakes. It is has an oil line ran to it from the engine. It has been a while since I have seen the backhoe but I think this is correct. good luck Jim
