I tried but couldn't do a search on oil being it is only 3 letters. What oil weight is recommended for these motors. The guy I bought the truck from said he was using 15w-40 synthetic in mine. I looked and the only weights I could find were 5w-30, 10w-30, 10w-40, and 15w-50. I couldn't find any 15w-40, what would be the best to go with?

I don't know where you're looking, but even at Wal Mart they should have 15W40 oil. Look for Delo 400, Delvac 1300. Rotella T or even their Super Tech. It should be CH rated for your truck I think. BTW the above oils are not synthetic. Also Checker or Auto Zone should carry these as well.

I saw these oils at our local Wal-mart and also had called our local Advanced auto parts and they didn't carry it either.

make sure you use a diesel rated oil, delo, rotella, valvoline blue, mobil delvac, mobil truck & suv. are some examples, check your local truck stops or repair shops,cummins dealer, my local wal-mart carries most of these along with napa auto parts.these oils come in 1 gallon jugs.also make sure to use fleet guard filters- cummins.hope this helps and good luck.
