The quick drains will not let all of the oil out.

yep, they leave around a quart in there. i just installed my quick drain and plan on getting the majority out, then removing the plug to let the rest out (unless someone says this is a bad idea). might take like an extra 30 seconds.

How easy would the drain be to shear off. Anything that extends below oil pan is in harms way. You know Murphy law.

The Fumoto website discounts this theory. The inlet does not extend farther up then the reinforced threaded part of the pan, thus no leftover oil. A number of members have verified this finding by removing the Fumoto and having minimal oil drainout.

I work at a transit bus OEM. We will NOT install Fumoto drain valves. If the customer wants them they are installed after delivery. Cummins does not endorse them either.

UH WHY?

If you have a 4x4 you would have to hit the front axle considering its about 6-8" lower than the oil pan.

I have had a Fumoto on for about a year and I havent had any problems.

Also if you take the oil pan off, you will see that the threaded drain bung is higher than the bottom of the pan itself. It does have holes in it to allow for the oil to drain through.
when I first put the Fumoto on, It leaked around the gasket. I hd to drain all of the oil, and then pulled the Fumoto, and nothing major came spewing out. It was probably less than a cup.

It definately wasnt a quart.

Buses use a rear engine configuration called a T-drive. The oil pan is not much higher than the frame rails. We have this parameter called departure angle to hold. A Fumoto is below the departure angle.

Agree that a typical (non off road) 4x4 will not have a problem. 2wd the pan is low and any extension is a concern. I answered dozer 12216's question.

Won't have any clearance issues like the fumoto valves.
