Engine oil viscosity problems due to inadequate oil cooling, or the bottom end is beginning to get loose.

Check your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. Most likely its the oil pressure sensor.

I had the exact same symptoms as you. Bought a mechanical gauge, removed the old sensor and hooked the line for the gauge and havent looked back since. I bought a 50 ohm resistor from radio shack to keep my check engine light off.

Now I know exactly what my oil pressure is...no worries

Are your batteries old? I was having some weird electrical problems--I was running 10-year old Optima's--and when I checked the voltage one was only putting out 8 volts. After I changed them out the electrical problems went away.

Oil Pressue Problem

Thanks guys, I found the problem to be the oil pressure sensor. I replaced it at a cost of about $18 and the cost of a $10 socket to make the change, so I got off easy this time!

FWIW, unless you got it from Cummins, there is a good chance it wont last long.

No biggie, now that you know you have good pressure, if it messes up, just get one from Cummins.

most likley the electric sendor, i run my idle at 400rpm and it holds great pressure. the manual says to use 10w30- the pervous owner ran $0.49 cent a quart havoline 10w30 for 200k without any issues.

The above sheet looks like it came from a gasoline engine.
I am 100% certain that Cummins recommends 15w40 oil except in below freezing weather.

I noticed that as well, the rest of the information looks accurate but the oil seal isn't for a cummins. Biggest give away is where it says "for gasoline engines".
