Oil pressure gauge drops

From time to time on my 1998 CTD 2500 5spd, when coming to a stop or slowing down (espically after sustained speeds over 50 mph) the oil pressure gauge needle will drop to zero pressure. Then within a few seconds it will go back to normal. Is this something to be concerned about? Has anyone else experienced this as well?

Test it with an other gage , to see whats up , senders can go bad , there is a spec for resistance relative to pressure [ I do not have at my finger tips ] .

This same thing happened to me today as I was out on my lunch break. How hard is it to replace the sending unit? Thanks!

It easy if the IP is out. Obviously a lil more difficult with everything on the engine. Its on the drivers side of the block, pretty much below the AFC and fuel shutoff solenoid.
good info here...https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=153572

I have been reading threads like crazy since I got back to my computer. I have searched this site along with several others. The oil pressure dropped when I came to a stop at a red light and it really freaked me out. But it came right back up after a few seconds. There was no abnormal noise, clatter, etc or anything else to indicate that anything was wrong. After reading like a madman on this site and on the Geno's page, it seems to me that this is a common problem on these trucks. Please tell me I am right??? I intend to try some contact cleaner this evening when I get home and see how that works and I have an appointment at the local Dodge dealership tomorrow evening. I am bracing for the worst!

If it keeps happening. Do it the easy way. Get an Autometer electric oil pressure gauge and tap in on top of the oil filter mount. Should show the same pressure right?
