oil pressure gage

oil pressure gage
My oil pressure gage rises to as high as 110 psi when the transmission is shifting. Once the transmission shifts it goes back to normal. If I place the truck in park or neutral and rev the engine the oil pressure stays at normal. This is a 94 dodge ram 2500 5.9l cummins. I am assuming it is just an electrical problem of sorts.
Thanks

Most likely just the sender.
Replace it with a sender from Cummins, if you use one from the autoparts store you'll be replacing it again soon.
If you want to check if it is indeed the sender you can hook up a mechanical gauge to the unused port on top of your oil filter mount and compare readings to the dash gauge.

I found a ground wire off, reconnected it and the issues with the oil pressure and the transmisssion shifting have disappeared. I'll run it a few days and let ya know if that was the fix.
