oil pan removal

oil pan removal

has anyone removed an oilpan on a 96 cummins how hard are they to pull i lost my manual

I have , I use a cherry picker, remove the motor mount bolts and jack the engine up highest you can ,drop the pan down down and reach in over the pan and remove the oil pick up tube with a 10 mm wrench and drop it into the pan and then the pan will come out . install the same way with the pick up tube resting in the pan , set it up in position and then install the tube and pan last.

sorry forgot one thing , remove the fan so you can raise the engine up till the valve cover makes contact with firewall

Did one on my 97 12 valve, yeah, what a royal pain. Not very hard, but time consuming. You'll get r done, good luck. cumminsboy

also raise the truck up a little if it is 4wd ( helps clear the frt axle)

It was easier for me to just drop the tranny and remove the flywheel housing and pull the pan from the back than the above mentioned ways. There's not much to a dodge driveline.
