oil leak behind filter, need gasket?
So i had an oil leak, finally got fed up enough to degrease engine, and i think i found where its leakin from.<br>There is a plate right behind the oil filter. It is a little longer then then the filter and about as wide. The part that you screw the oil filter onto is mount on this plate. I dont know what the plate is or what is behind it. I would like to replace the gasket. So, is there anything important back there that will come flying out? Will the ******* know what part # i will need? Thanks in advance for any help.

That is your oil cooler its not a hard job to do but it has two gaskets it is two pieces with a gasket between each piece. I think one gasket runs somewhere around 15$ and the other 24$ at your local cummins parts dealer and the only thing that should come out when you take it off is a lot off water or coolant.
