It is my undestanding on the nv4500 2x4 it takes 4 qts gl4 I don't know about the 4x4 the cheapist I have found is $23 qt close to where I live from dealer. Quad 4x4 had it for 38.97 for 2qt but by the time I paid shipping it was more.

I Ran Amsoil It Was Great!

I had some one almost jack my trans by putting in some regular man trans oil..... Syncros started getting sticky hard to shift especially cold... Then I flushed it and put amsoil and flushed again and amsoil and it cleared up and shifting remained perfect after that....
I would do Amsoil again.

The phone number posted in the ebay ad for "Mary" is a direct line to Blumenthal manufacturing. It might be legit. I'd call em up and ask if they have ebay ads for NV4500 oil.

If it is I need 10 quarts

Where can a person, find the how to change the fluid in a nv4500. I search alittle on here but did'nt really find a post on how to do it, from start to finish.
I checked on 411 search engine, and the # did come up as Blumenthal manufacturing. Thanks

Instructions are a snap.
Warm tranny by driving, remove a lower PTO cover bolt, let it drain.
Replace bolt, fill tranny to the bottom of the fill plug hole.
A cheap hand pump makes it easier.

Well I called Mary at Blumenthal today she said the nv4500 oil was Castrol Syntorq. I orded the 5qts for 53.90 with free shipping. Never dealt with this ebay stuff but from what I could find out they seem like a good Co.

Now to figure out what to do about the rear end the last time I changed it I used Valvoline 80W90 none syn. and additive from dealer got 45k on that change almost time to do it again. I am afraid if I go to a Syn. I will have leakey seals.

I see the Blumenthal instructions on ebay say to add the oil though the top by removing the shifter.
Works good if you don't have a hand pump but don't overfill above the bottom of the fill plug.
More is not better and will make the tranny run hot.

Did you see big difference in the operation of the tranny?

shifts better, and does'nt make as much noise. The stuff that came out, smelled really stong, of gear lube. I think it was straight regular gearlube. I have about a qt left over of the new
