NV 241 Tranfer Case change LT. to RT drop
I have a 47Rh Transmission 2x4 behind 5.9 Cummins and want to convert it to a 4x4 tail housing, will a NV 241DLD or NV 241DHD be clocked to a right hand drop?? I'm changing from Divorced 205 to 241 but need to have a right hand drop with out changing my dana 60 to left drop. Will any NV 241 work??
Thanks

no you can't run them upside down. you'll disrupt the oiling and failure isn't far way.
whats wrong with the divorced 205 behind the 2wd 47rh?
you can put the dodge 241 input into a Chevy 241. and have RH drop. but you can't flip a dodge 241 upside down.

how short is short? mine is/was 23" from my 47rh to ford divorced 205. I didn't have a vibration.
but how are your joint angles? hopefully the shaft is phased correctly. who built and balanced it?

The drive shaft lenght from the front of slip yok to end of ujoint is about 12" maybe 15" not very long. I had to push the gas tank and 205 back 6" in order to get that to fit. the 74 short box with the 47rh don't give me much room. can you run a Lt. drop 241 with two cv joints to run a right drop dana 60?? or two much angle.

If you address the oil pump pickup location, it is possible to run one upside down. We installed a NV273 out of a super duty into an '89 W350 with a getrag. Lacking the equipment to weld aluminum, we had a guy weld a piece of aluminum to the raised surface where the number tag was located, and then drilled and tapped it for a fitting, and used this port to run an oil line up to the top, where the oil pump is now located. We then drilled thru the case and attached our oil line to the factory pump in the transfer case. All in all it really wasn't that bad, considering we had to completely disassemble the t-case to change the input gear anyhow (it was out of an automatic super duty).
Granted this was all done on our puller, but it does see some highway use as well and has worked well so far...

JD 730,
You say that a 205 divorce can be mated to 47rh? who or how can this be done? I like my 205 its bullet proof.
I really want to go with a chain drive, plus I just put a xxxx load of money in the drive train on the 74 dana 60 in front with power traxx and dana 70 power lock in back. Drive shafts are nothing of cost compaired to all the front end change out.
