np 205 + manual hubs for 94-98.5
has anyone ever done this? one of the reasons i bought a first gen 4x4 is because i like the all gear case and the reliability of the manual hubs. i had an RC with the CAD, and it was okay, but i would prefer the setup i have now. i would really love to have a 97 or so, but i want my cake and eat it too!

I know DynaTrac make a kit to convert to manual hubs, but it's pricey. A Posi-Lock would be a good comprimise.
And Advance Adapters should be able to help you with an adapter, they can mate just about anything to a 205. Or hook you up with an Atlas T-Case with a better low range than the 205 that is still gear driven.

205, passenger side front axle drop
94+ t-cases drivers side drop.
For manual hubs i'd look into swapping in a completely different axle, ford dana 60, or a kingpin dana 60. Just have to weld control arm mounts and spring perches.

I second apwatson50. There's a thread on here where a member did this. He got dual piston calipers , AND lock-out hubs in a Dana 60. If I ever run across the Ford Dana 60 for the front I'll be jumping on it.

NP205 is an all cast iron case with 2:1 gear drive. Awesome durability. The only draw back is the bearing retainers are made of aluminium. The only carnage I ever managed to do to one was wear out the shifter mechanism causing it to jump out of 4x4.
NP241 are an alum case with a chain transfering power to the front axle drive gears. These are also a strong case with approx 2.71:1 gear reduction. If I spent alot of time abusing the xfer case I would rather have the 205.
