No Tach..No charging

1995 3500. I just bought it. Everything worked fine for 2 days, then the tach started bouncing, finally quit and no charging either. Started it up the next morning, everything worked fine until the engine started warming up,the warmer it got the more the tack bounced, finally quit again. Wouldn't work at all the next morning. So I figured crank sensor. Got a new one from Cummins and installed it,gapped at .005. Started the truck tach was bouncing then after about a minute no tack again.
I have cleaned all the grounds, the battery cables, unpluggged all the connectors and cleaned them with contact cleaner. Whats left the PCM? or did I get a bad sensor?TIA

Have any new oil leak front of engine? KDP problem possible, last time I had tach problem on 95 found front gear housing cracked because dowel pin came out and cracked housing causing sensor air gap to close up and damaged crankshaft sensor. I hope I'm wrong for your sake because this will be expensive to repair but check housing over sensor for any cracks or oil leakage in that area. The charging problem is related to no crank signal, PCM controls alt field circuit and unless there is a crank signal the field circuit is switched off. Check around in this area your damage might not be as obvious if it is dowel pin related to your problem. If not related to your problem you should do the fix for the KDP right now before it's too late. It will then cost you much more money and time to fix it. Good Luck

Your are correct crank sensor air gap. It should be 0.050 inch.

The gap isn't all that critical, close but not hitting works for me.

Nowdays any time I replace an electrical part and my problems are still there the first place I look is the new part.
Chinese quality control isn't all that great. Even if it's an American brand name part most likely it's built in China.

PCM, no ecm on 12 valves.
My friend has one for a '95 auto trans, bet he'll take $100 for it.
PM me.
