Ok, 'nother stupid question. Which one is the ASD relay? The relay box cover on my truck is not the correct one. It fits right, but it's labeled wrong for the application. What does the ASD do on a Cummins anyway????

Awesome, that's a big help. I won't have time to mess with this thing 'til Saturday (AAAAARGHHH!!) so hopefully I'll get it all figured out then.

What does the ASD do on a Cummins anyway????
The relay definitely isn't for auto shutdown but the relay switches power to the engine components that need power so that all the juice doesn't have to flow though the key switch.

Update - It lives again! I tried unplugging the PCM to inspect the plugs and pins. Everything was in perfect condition and there was no change after plugging it back in. I disconnected the batteries and re-cleaned the terminals, swapped out the ASD relay for another known good one and reset the gap on the ESS to .040". It works perfect now. I'm not 100% sure where the issue was, but it's all good now. One thing I did notice is that the tach reads probably 10% higher than it used to before I changed the ESS. I guess the old one was dying a slow death? Thanks to everyone who helped!!
