No overdrive or cruise all at same time?
#16
I did. Most are clock spring for lost cruise. Speed sensor, engine speed sensor, fuses, grounds, little box behind glove box for OD. Thats all been checked. I send a ground to the PCM through a toggle and get normal operation. I dont mind that. I would like to have cruise though. It gets boring and my lazy foot gets tired holding the pedal. wahh...

There is a vacuum line that can go bad feeding the cruise control. That may be an issue.

There may be a fault with a transmission temp sensor.. I wonder if that is sending the tranny into its non-lock warmup mode. But for the cruise, I would check the vacuum to it as well as the wires. The controller is in a bad spot under the battery and can get corroded wires or the vacuum line gets some holes in it.

well im sure the curise isnt working right becasue of the tranny not shifting into od.. so it doesnt sound like a bad torqe converter or tranny. wat would you recomending me doing first to try finding the problem?

Another thought was the TPS and the TV cable adjustment. If these are out of adjustment, that could provide the same symptoms.
I have to find the link for setting the TPS voltage and testing.

I'm trying to find a good link to that. In 95, the tranny temp sensor is in the cooling lines, on 96 and up, I am not sure exactly where its located. You would basically unplug the sensor and put the resistor across the terminals of the plug.
Here is the TPS adjustment link.. dodgeram.org-TPS_adjust.htm

I dont have lockup on the 46rh lil dog. I will replace the sensor on the trans cooling line. But why would this affect my cruise? Plus if I had a vacuum leak I would assume my brakes would be affected. I will check the controller and /or replace it. Too bad they dont make a majic answer for this issue. Seems like alot of us guys lose this in our trucks. If someone was able to fix this problem successfully, they should post it in the fixin forum.

Well the cruise is a long troubleshooting string to do.. Start with the basics such as power and vacuum and then move on to troubleshoot the rest like power to the module, cable condition etc and eventually it could be a ruptured diaphram in the controller itself for cruise.
The lock up is a separate issue IMHO.
