no more oil blow
I went ahead a added the rubber gromlets, a 90, and a tee. "all 1/2" ran the hose all the way next to the stock blowby tube. It turned my 1.5 gallons to 65 miles, to 0 drops in 125 miles. How can such a bad oil consumption be fixed by something so simple?

bgflatbed...can you elaborate a little on your solution??? i have basically same truck same year...i have been running with the oil filler cap off...with some screen mesh over the opening...it cut my blow-by significantly...sounds like your fix might be better....thx...vs

I just removed #3 and #4 valve covers and drilled out holes to hold gromlets that fit 1/2" tee's and 90'. tied them together and ran the excess hose off the driver side, pretty much where the other blowby tube is, just a little lower, bout 3" under the front pumpkin. It made a hell of difference of the amount of oil that was blown out of the engine. I still have a signifigant amount of blowby at idle, don't care as long as the oil stays in the engine!

thanks bgflatbed...i am curious...did you ever get the blowby issue diagnosed??? i have done a TON of reading on this...have taken my truck to be checked by a couple real cummins fanatics...the blowby issue seems unique almost engine to engine but seems more prevalent in 98 model years...some do...some dont...one guy told me i might have a scored chamber wall or a broken ring...but i have tons of power and no other issues...the vaccuum lines were a problem for a while but i have since rectified that...i think the 24V's have a case vent somewhere up higher from factory??
is there a reason you opted for only #3 and #4 covers??? thx..vs
