no fuel plate...does afc matter?

hey guys i was wondering about other mods and afc tuning. today i opened my pump to check the fuel plate out the guy before me ground it flat...so i just took it out completely...this is okay correct? also does the afc ride on the plate making it useless or can i still do mods to the afc? also the starwheel is full forward. my truck is pretty quick except for the slipping clutch... egts hit 1100* by 70 with hx35 hitting 35 psi

No plate will work fine, there are mixed reviews on to plate or not to plate but for the most part you should be fine. Put the AFC housing all the way forward, get a mack rack plug, part number 2095 that will allow full rack travel giving you a little more jam when mash the go pedal. All that said, you should have at least a pyro guage and a boost guage. A 3 or 4 thousand RPM governor spring kit would give an entirely different truck as well. All these mods are mentioned in other posts with details on installation. Have fun!

your missing the the point to "tuning" your afc by just sliding it foward and just turning the wheel.

More than likely running without a fuel plate and with a stock AFC foot, the AFC is going to restrict full rack travel. If your not going to be running 22*+ Timing, I wouldn't recommend it on your 215 pump. Due to you pump's Cam Profile, anything over 17mm of rack travel will cause the pump's timing to Retard.

Thats what I have read as well. The Mack plug doesn't work so well for the 215 pump.
