No change in power after # 10 plate

No change in power after # 10 plate

I just installed a TST # 10 plate. Followed all the instructions (but I've done this a dozen of times before this truck), moved AFC housing forward, same for starwheel.
Truck is still bone stock like before. No increase of performance at all and it barely smokes.

Anybody can enlighten me on this ? It's the first time I see it.

How's the cat lookin? It might be plugged. Or your torque converter might be slipping enough

Man I just installed a #10ish from stock and there was a HUGE difference... Max of 45pi to 75+!

Mine is about 3/4 forward...


AFC boost line connected and everything right??

?????...Thats strange....10 plate made a big difference on my truck.....No smoke at all???Make sure your shutoff switch is engaged fully on the pump...

California or 49 state truck? The intakes are different? The California is VERY restrictive.

Methinks some AFC issue. Where did you place the housing, fittings tight? Did you make sure the air horn boot is tight? I forgot after I did injectors, wouldn't go past 10 psi, and zero smoke.

The mods you did only come into play at WOT or under heavy load.
You won't feel them otherwise.

Infidel, I rate you as one of the best on this site (and others), but this one in a no no.

Advancing the AFC, turning starwheel forward and a# 10 plate will give you immediate throttle response, quicker low rpm fueling and considerable amount of power right away. It is my 3rd 12v, and I've worked on others too, the difference is very noticeable.

I will put everything back to stock and start all over, just in case, but this one got me puzzled.
Converter locks fine, transmission has no slippage.

I have heard this before and while I'm definitely new to P7100 tuning I have had a completely opposite experience with my plate swap.. I left my star wheel, screw, and AFC in the same positions and installed the #10ish plate about 3/4 forward.. I noticed right away increase in fueling throughout the RPM range...

It was my original understanding that the plate only came into effect with 3/4 to full throttle as the arm came forward and contacted the plate.. But after installing mine and getting increased fueling throughout the range makes me confused? Possible the AFC housing may be a little fordward from before, but I dont believe so??

Alot depends on the AFC Spring tension and setting. Pre 215 pumped trucks had alot softer AFC spring and will let you hit the plate at lower boost levels. Really it should give you fuel fairly soon as most AFC settings are below the 15 psi mark and you get that pretty early in the power curve.

Also since you only list the auto , but no mods to it , how does it shift ?
