NO black smoke once it gets turbo boost- 215 pump
i have a prob with a 215 pump, we installed a plate, with no tip on the top (no defueling) it only smokes on low rpm, once it gets turbo boost, it cuts the fuel, and stops smoking- like a stock truck. we turned the spring wheel on the afc all the way to the front, it didnt help!!
then we adjusted the governor lever... didnt help!!!
we adjusted engine timing and the overflow valve...
what might the problem be?
id appreciate any help

You have enough air to burn the fuel. Sounds like you want bigger injectors and delivery valves, if you want more smoke. AFC just controls the pre boost fueling.

we have another truck with a 215 pump, that one will smoke as long as you lean on the pedal... even with turbo boost... this one, stops smoking once the turbo jumps in.
a friend of mine, had a 215, with a plate, he did10 miles more in a quarter mile!!!! same mods, same truck same tranny!!!
wazz the prob.??? there is hidden power in that 215...

when i had only a 0 plate i had no smoke at full throttle, then i put 370's in it had a slight haze, installed haisley laser cut dv's smokke comes on at 1/2 throttle and just keeps getting darker. your friend probably had a boost leak somewhere , i've done 3 215 pumps 0plates and injectors and the only one to really smoke at full throttle was the one with a boost leak. if your just wanting smoke get a set of laser dv's but smoke is just a waste of money( it does look cool though) but you'll get over that phase. guys on here that were running just a 0 plate dynoed the same hp as me. once you get that stock turbo over 30psi you will gain no more power , until you get a bigger turbo[IMG] [/IMG]

cool dangousity!! i just wish i'd live in usa, to go there too...
and to what halerazor said, ... we've done about 5 215 pumps, all had great smoke, at high speed, except this one...
one even with a 12 plate, and they had a lot more power at that high speed...

FYI,
I have the #10 around the stock location and with the AFC kit, the smoke is thick right off the hop, but then disappears to a slight haze until it gets up over 2700 RPM, then it start to thicken, but not black..
I would say its good not to have smoke, you have enough air.. For now anyway...

IF the truck is no longer smoking, seems to me that you need lasercuts (which i did mention) and or injectors. My question here is, what did you set the timing at in this truck? If your gonna put it at stock timing it might smoke a little bit, but advance it a little more and it will smoke less, stock timing (stinks) is 12.5 degrees if im not mistaken, 16 is a happy medium for this, and even more if you are going to get injectors and or laser cuts is needed (timing i mean)
RattleRattle said it best, all it means is that you have enough air to burn all of your fuel, which means less wasted fuel After all smoke is power you can see, but cannot use....
Quite honestly IMHO if i had that much smoke, id run twins in my truck, right now its just managable... i like smoke, but not to the point where i wanna cause an accident....
