Exclamation NO black smoke once it gets turbo boost- 215 pump

i have a prob with a 215 pump, we installed a plate, with no tip on the top (no defueling) it only smokes on low rpm, once it gets turbo boost, it cuts the fuel, and stops skiking- like a stock truck. we turned the spring wheel on the afc all the way to the front, it didnt help!!

then we adjusted the governor lever... didnt help!!!

we adjusted engine timing and the overflow valve...

what might the problem be?

id appreciate any help

Do the timeing , with 16 or more you will see a little black when your in the curve!! but not alot , with boost you should be burning fine, no smoke!!

Smoke is just unburned fuel, wasted energy.
With boost, you shouldn't have smoke, because the turbo is supplying enough air to keep the engine efficient (and clean).

Sounds like you have it tuned well. If you absolutely have to have more fuel than the turbo can supply air for, which will get you black smoke and high EGTs, you'll need some injectors and/or delivery valves.
I wich I could get my turbos to spool faster. I'd be tickled if I could turn all that fuel into GO instead of smoke.

Are you running delivery valves yet? If so, whos?

No, I don't have delivery valves in my 12v. It's pretty much stock except for timing and a custom Tim Barber plate in it. Now my 24v, that's a different story, with Don M's Mach 5's and twins, I can stop a few lanes of traffic until the turbos spool.
I think the Piers DV's are what I will get when it becomes time. I have heard great things about them.

all 12v's defuel at around 2000rpm. get a 3gsk or 4gsk its the best mod by far it will fell like you added 200hp. my truck or my friends truck never smoked after boost kicked in either and that was with a 0 plate. it's not going to smoke with just a plate unless you have a boost leak

I'M NOT SURE THIS IS THE CASE HERE. I HAVE HAD A '96 ( BANKS POWERPAKE) AND NOW MY '97 THAT AT 2500 RPM WILL SMOKE UP TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC, WITH OR WITHOUT THE WASTGATE PLUGED.NOT TOO SURE IF THE AFC HOUSING COULD CAUSE THIS

Make sure the rubber line from the manifold to the afc housing is intact, hooked up, not leaking. Sounds like the IP is not getting the signal that you ARE producing boost. How much boost are you getting?

we have not a boost gauge on it yet... what for, if it doesnt make lots of boost?...

we took out the governor stoper, (the one that swings to the front, once it gets boost... before boost it smokes like the 181's do! but with boost, it seems to me like, it should smoke more.

it stops smoking at 1500 rpm because your turbo is starting to spin faster thus pushing more air smoke stops, at 2500 rpm its defueling. A 3k gsk will stop the smoking at 2500 or maybe back up on your afc some. you can tighten up on your starwheel to help with the preboost smoke if its to much.
