no 4WD light?

I just did an NV4500 swap and I can feel the transfer case switch, but I have no 4WD light on my dash.

what should I be looking for?

I think the switch is when the slider , slides in the front axle. When mine didnt light, (even with the transfer case in) it still wasnt in 4wd. Mine was a damaged vacuum line. If you had the trans out, you probably didnt plug something back in that goes to the front axle (pass side). I think the vacumm signal comes from a actuator at the transfer case, cause I remeber the line running across the crossmember I think.

Also look on the ride side of the frame up were the surp belt is. I had a belt come to pieces and the 4wd light wires on the side of the frame were cut by that belt. This was on my very first CTD, 97'.

Make sure the 2 conductor plug has a good connection at the front axle. And put some dielectric grease on it.

vacuum lines all look good. I will put some grease on them to be sure...I will check the electrical connection also.

Would it matter that my frt drive shaft is not in?
