newbie here, truck running weak on accel and etc.
well its a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 cummin auto
problems are feels like I m forcing the truck to move like a small amount of brake is being applied it takes awhile to get to 70 mph and when it gets there its about 2000 rpm which I don t think its right. the other is in the morning it sluggish moving I have to let it warm up before it catches I suspect this is related to the bands in the trany oh before i forget to mention I have about 180,000 miles on it. and I m afraid to pass anyone with it. Like it won t up shift when I floor it to pass. thanks for any imput I can get limited on funds Help me not want to give up on it and get a beater to drive lol sorry if I did this wrong.

Hey, welcome to the DTR!!
There are alot of things you can check before you get into the tranny. Some things are simple if you have some time, tools and the good directions here.
Firstly it sounds like the torque converter is not reaching lockup. This can be due to a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) calibration issue. There is a thread open here on it as well as a search should put you in the right direction. Could be an adjustment, cleaning or replacement TPS or even as simple as a brake lite switch on the pedal.
Fluid, filters etc would also be a good idea. If you are getting into that, adjusting the bands yourself isn't tough at all and can be found at Dieselram.org. There is also many other good pieces of information there.
Good luck and welcome!
