Well the other day I went and bought a 94 3500 dodge auto with 267K on her. Despite the high mileage the truck/engine is in really good shape. Cumminsdriver635 can vouch for me on that. Tranny isnt too bad but its a little quirky. We put a lock up switch on it and it helped a whole lot. Also slid the plate a little which helped out quite a bit as well. I'd really like to go ahead and cut the plate but ive gotta get some gauges first, plus i dont think my stock tranny would appreciate it much. Im seriously considering buying a valve body from Goerend or DTT. How much power will my stock tranny be good for if i add the new valve body?

With that many miles on the stock tranny, I'd seriously consider having it rebuilt stronger (not just valve body) before doing any serious mods.

Me and TeddyBear are cousins, and live about 1 mile from each other. The truck is really clean for 267k, and the motor runs great. The tranny feels fine, and shifts good other than Downgearing sometimes from 3rd to 2nd with the TC locked(mystery switch) when it shouldnt. I think a VB will fix that, and make it alot better. We have slid the plate, and the TC doesent slip any yet, so I feel like it will hold a cut plate and GSK at least fine with a VB. Other than the downgearing it feels pretty good for a stock tranny. We dont know when or if the tranny has ever been rebuilt, but I feel like with a little work it will be fine.

Thats a lot of miles on an auto with unknown history. I'd try a shift kit for now, and plan on rebuilding/upgrading it. If you spend the money on a VB and the trans doesn't hold up, you'll need to buy another VB when it fills up with material from slipping clutches. Kind of like putting new tires on and driving through demolition sites, hoping to not get a flat.
A lot depends on how it's driven. Dropping the hammer every time the light changes, gaurantees tranny problems.

I agree, it is a LOT of miles on the stock tranny. How much $$$$ would it cost to rebuild my 47rh?
