newbi fuel valve question
Ive looked throught tons of posts and cant fint the answer to my question, I just bought this about a month ago its a 94 ram with a ctd and my wif light came on on the weekend and I cant find the lever every one is talking about. All I can find is a hose comming from the bottom of the fuel filter and it has 2 wires comming out of it is this the open valve or am I blinde.

I am guessing that the "lever" you are looking for is a ****. Follow the hose from the bottom of the filter and you will see that it is plugged into a black plastic valve. Unscrew the round **** and watch the water and whatever flow out.

On my '96 it's not a "hose" with two wires coming out of it but rather a plastic piece resembling a syringe. There's a plastic disc (kinda like on a syringe) that you can pull up and it opens up a valve of sorts and fuel/water pour out. Now on my WIF switch one of the wires is bare right under the switch and I guess shorts out when ever it gets wet. Water or fuel seem to short it.
Just a little warning, do not cross thread the WIF switch into the filter. Which is kinda easy to do if your filter comes with big fat o-rings since there isn't a lot of thread protruding from under the o-ring to thread intot he filter housing. I install the switch without the o-ring and then back it out a little and snap the o-ring over the switch into the "grove" to make sure that it's threaded properly before I tighten it down.
Good luck.

The easiest way is to use 10 psi or so, if you have a compressor. Wrap a rag around the air hose, stuff it hard into in your tank, open the valve on top of the filter and wait. If you do not have a compressor, a 24" stick will be a big help to help push the primer pump.
