New to me 1996 12 valve, needing info on truck

I just bought myself a 1996 3/4 ton 4x4 12 valve single cab long box truck with 400,000kms today and I wanna go right through this truck and change all the fluids, but can't seem to find a sticky anywhere with fluid capacities for T-case, rear/front diffs, and transmission and whether or not gaskets are reusable etc etc. Can someone point me to a sticky or thread that would be of use? Also what can a guy do to tighten the 47re up on this truck? Can I do a valve body and adjust bands etc?

Welcome to the ownership of a 96 2500 5.9. This what your looking for:

http://dodgeram.info/tech/BRSpecs/fluids/specs.html

http://www.dieselpowernetwork.net/47RE.html

Afew odds and ends if you don't mind: the stock air box is rated better than a lot of after market ones on the dyno, save you money. I only use Fleetgaurd filters, inner workings in the cut aways make the other look pathetic. Genos Garage has them http://www.genosgarage.com/ They also have a tech section that may help you out http://www.genosgarage.com/faq.asp

I'm assuming you know what the KDP issue is http://www.genosgarage.com/GenosGara...erDowelPin.pdf and checked to see if yours was done. You will also want to know what the "Death Wabble" is, http://www.genosgarage.com/GenosGarageTechArticles/TDR53_2ndGenSuspension.pdf. Cause man does it suck when it hits you at 65 mph, feels like the truck is about to blow up.

I have the owners manual here, and the shop manuals if you have any more questions, shoot me a PM.

I'll also take a second to share, one of the guys posted this link http://search.ebscohost.com/ the user name and password are both the word tech. It has most of the manuals on line under the Auto Repair Reference Center section, just plug in year make and model.

Here is the Cummins Catalog http://www.bdasites.com/Cummins/Main/Default and you might like Cummins QuickServe Online https://qsol2.cummins.com/info/index.html with exploded views and genuine Cummins parts.

If you need anything else holler.

Mike

Thanks Mike, I truly appreciate your info. I am aware of most things with these trucks, I have 3 right now and have owned 5 cummins engines total so far in my life. Every year of truck seems to have its own quirks, and figuring those out is key to success. I already put a BHAF air filter in the truck utilizing the stock intake tube, I have these filters kicking around from my 1991 and 2007 I sold so it was an easy decision to put it on. Thanks again for your help!
