New Head and Valve Cover gaskets leaking oil

We put a rebuilt head on recently and new valve cover gaskets, and a few of them are leaking ?? They are pretty simple things and the bolts are right tight. any problems anywhere else that could be causing this?? Or did I just get bum gaskets?

You might of tighten the bolts too tight and mashed through the gasket. Pull it off and check that.

Make sure the head is clean underneath the gasket. All the valve cover bolts I have come across are shouldered bolts, so you can't tighten the covers down to far.

If you used arp head studs the early ones wouldnt allow the cover to sit down on the head without midifications.

I have the shouldered bolts, they just stop when they are tight, as for the head studs, we had it machined a little to let the valve covers sit down. Could that be the problem?? to much taken off??

New ones, yes. Old ones required clearancing the covers.

If Brendan just did it, Just a guess that he has the newer studs. Unless someone sent him a set of old stock studs...
