Stuck, sorta, in a parking lot.
Flying along , being impressed by how well my truck was running just about to hit 279000 miles.
Go to get off the freeway and cannot engage any gears.
I could smell gear oil.
Coasted off freeway, sat for a minute and tried putting in gear. Went in and I drove off freeway but trans was loud, kinda like if you are coasting with your foot on the clutch but in a low gear.
Parked, first stop of the day. No leakage. Started up and drove around parking lot but don't notice the whine.
I'm a long ways from home. Do I get back on the freeway or have it towed to home or a trans shop. I'm leaving on vacation in a few days and I don't have the time to pull the trans myself.
This is the original trans and clutch.

Sounds like it may be repairable at this point but may not be if you put another mile on it and the thing grenades......I would seriously consider not driving it any further....
