Narrowing down trans prob.
OK,Ive waded through hundreds of trans related posts and Im starting to wonder more about my O/D problem.Its displays common symptoms,but the acommpanying symptoms are not consistant with most people's problems.Heres the latest.......
No 4th gear ever,hot or cold.
New TPS,set the voltage to 1.2V at idle,works fine,no spikes....also no change in my trans behavior.
Verified that TC lockup occurs in 3rd,drops a few hundred revs and you can hear it.Holds fine,doesnt drop out of lockup suddenly.
TV looks good,no excess slack or binding.
BD line pressure actuator working correctly.
When cruising 3rd gear w/TC locked,if I push the O/D button it will drop out of Lockup and stay out.When I turn the O/D button back off,the convertor will lock back up after about 4 seconds.It will not lock up in 3rd when the OD button is on.But it will when the O/D button is off,which tells me its not the trans temp switch(internal style).
Do these symptoms indicate that its definately my O/D solenoid?

I'm no expert but it sounds like the solenoid to me.I just replaced mine on my 95 because the TC wouldn't lock.On the 95's the OD and TC is a single unit with 2 solenoids, about $41 from transparts.This is not a bad job on the 95 you just need to watch for the park detent ball coming out when removing VB.The local trans shop quoted me a price of $450 to do this, it took me about 3 hrs to do.
