Mystery switch Location.....
im going to put in a tcc lockup switch. im wondering can i get a shift lever from a 47/8 re truck and use it with the button in the end of the shifter as my switch. it a solid theory in my mind but im unsure of the wiring in the lever. i want a really clean look as factory as possible.

The lever will work but they are a little bit of a hassle to remove.
Sort of doubt it will have the same connector as your present lever so you might have to improvise.
Another option if you don't have factory fog lights would be to use the blank spot next to your dash OD off switch with a factory OD off or fog light switch.
They're about $30 from the dealer and very easy to install.

If im not mistaken (which I might be) the button switch is only momentary on the shifter levers you are talking about. So basically it would only stay locked when you are holding the button.

Yep, I believe that is exactly right. Pushing the button gives a momentary impulse to the PCM which then toggles on or off the o/d circuit and turns on or off the "o/d off" lamp.

that is the location of my lock up switch. And I do find that a good spot for the switch. Later Don T

The fog light switch is constant on/off.
I've never used one to control lockup but think you might need to be careful not to run positive 12 volt to the on indicator lamp in the switch.
Positive juice will flow though the bulb element to the negative side that's connected to your PCM wire and mess up your lockup.
If you want to use the light to indicate when you're in lockup mode you'll have to use a relay with two sets of contacts, one set for lockup and the other for the light. Relay would be triggered on by the fog light switch and the trigger wire could also flow though the brake light switch.
There are another set of terminals on the OEM fog light switch that go to the dash dimmer circuit that don't cross over and won't effect lockup.
