my nv4500 problems
ok so to start from the beggining i just purchased my truck a 385xxx mi 95 12v 5sp 2wd. and the trans was rebuilt and now has 8000 on it. by a dodge mechanic mind you. and while backing into a parking spot. i pulled it out of reverse it slid into 5th. and would NOT come out! so i drove it home 8mi. and then pulled the shifter/spring retainer out to get to the shifting mechinism in the tranny. and started the truck and managed to get into neutral. and noticed that the shift tower was worn out and thus was into 2 gears, 5th and reverse. then i put it back together . all is good. then a day later it started making a funny noise in 5th. almost like a ringing/grinding noise. then 4th gear and now today i pulled the shift boot off and ill be dipped if it wasnt making a diffrent loudness in every gear. so as any poor guy would do i hit the junkyards. some reason they dont have any dodge diesels.LOL and the only thing i could find close is a 98 chevy 2wd with a 4500. so what can i do? can i use the shift tower from the chevy? how about the internals? im pretty shure ive read that the chevy output shaft is shorter according to the tailshaft housing lengths. so please any input would be appreciated. thanks in advance

shift tower should be the same, however i'm not an expert. not sure if a 2 wheeler has it but have you checked the snap ring at the output shaft? mine snapped and did what you explained with the grinding noise in every gear.
