Musical Front Differential

And it's a lame song, believe me. I have a clicking from my front differential that is almost unnoticeable traveling straight, and audible down the street when turning. It's not my axle U-joints, they're greasable, and fairly new. Nor is it my turn signal (ha-ha). Jacking up my front end and spinning my left tire, I hear the click right in the diff with my ear to it. I haven't cracked it open yet. Thrust washers? Spiders missing a tooth/teeth? Any common occurrences I should be aware of before buying more gear oil and RTV?

By the way, first post. 'sup, nice to be here, glad y'all get to meet me.

I can't imagine that it would be anything other than an open. I would think having that kind of hardware in the front diff would make for some crazy turning. But it's possible. Another quirk like that wouldn't surprise me at all. Heh.

Good old 289, man, I'm telling you. It will run without oil, water, and gas!

If he has no lock outs which it wouldent unless the kit was bought and insatlled and it is driven on the street it is open diff, if it was posi it would burn the clutches up, if it was locker you would not be able to turn it!!! I would bet it is them spider gears I would not take my time to open that baby up do it fast as you can you will only ruin more things (Ring and Pinion Etc.)!!!!
Welcome Also Good Site!
