More Noob questions about trannies
Ok,Did a search and came up with some interesting stuff.I definatly am gonna be dropping a 12V in my Ford now.And I think I have choosen my tranny but got a few questions about it.
RoadRanger RTO6610.I read on here that the bell housing, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate all from a 8.3L will allow the 610 to bolt to a 5.9L.Is this correct. Also what type throwout system does said mixture have? The Ford system is a Hydrolic system. Also, how do they compare size wise to a ZF5 tranny?I don't mind cutting my floor pan to clearance it a little. As for the shifting,I have played around with the RoadRangers a little when I washed truck.....Kinda enjoyed driving them around the yard......Much better than those dang Eaton/Fuller jobbers where you have to split each gear separately.....Hee hee hee,Ford with a Cummins and 10forward gears.Won't be much for drag racing but sure will a lot for dragging.
Also, pretty sure I will have to regear the rear end since the F350 has 4.10 gears....would 3.08s be too steep?
