MOOG or NAPA ?

I've been researching these front end parts and a curious to see if anyone here as any experience with NAPA steering parts? It seems they have a cheap line and an expensive line. They got one track bar for 140.00 and another for 230.00? I was reading on another forum that the NAPA parts are much beefier than MOOG. This is starting to drive me crazy and I need to pull the trigger on something like yesterday. My local guy is getting me the MOOG parts but I can have him send them back if the NAPA's are better.

Don't know if it's still the case but when I bought my Napa bar many years ago it came with a lifetime warranty.
Hard to beat that.
I've replaced mine three times as recent as last summer, no questions asked.

i use to do automotive suspension work daily. my best expierences were with moog parts. didnt care much for the cheaper line that napa sells. if you compare the tie rod ends for a dodge truck napa against moog you would definetly go with the moog.

I paid about $300 for my DThuren track bar. I don't see either of those replacement track bars worth the money, in comparison.
The Napa part has a lifetime warranty, but you have also changed it three times, which is a lot of labor. The DT unit went in three years ago for me, and won't have to be replaced for a long time.

I just don't see the reason to go cheap on this one.

As far as the rod ends, I went with Moog on all of mine.

10 minute job with air tools.
I've averaged between 40-75k per bar which includes quite a bit of potholed Forest Service roads.
Cost and hassle wise I've been happy with the Napa bar.

I went with the NAPA track bar. It does have a lifetime warranty for as long as I own the truck which will be a long time...lol Then I went with the MOOG for the steering linkages. I got the 99' HD stuff to convert my 95. The 99' stuff is major beef and almost twice as thick as the 95' stuff. Also a much better design. I'm happy !!

I'm getting ready to switch to the 98-99 style.

I do have a dumb question, anyone know why Dodge switched back to the old style again in 2000?

Seems kind of stupid to me.

Even with air tools, it took me longer than that to change it. Of course, I've only done it twice.

As far as 40-75K, my track bar was replaced at 170K with the Napa unit, and by 200K it was toast. It was almost all onroad driving. The DThuren bar has about 25K on it.

Have you considered (since you are researching this) to upgrade to 1998/1999 parts where they changed from a inverted "Y" style to the heavy duty crossover style. The problem with the "Inverted Y" style is when your ride height changes so does the Toe. With the crossover Style you go from the pitmam arm to the right side and you have a solid bar going from the right to the left.

Moog part numbers

Long tie rod: DS1456

Drag link: DS1459

Left tie rod end: ES3496

Drag link tie rod end: ES3497

Small adjusting sleeve: ES2012S

Large adjusting sleeve: ES3498S

This is something I am considering for myself, but have not done it yet. The only problem is how to mount the steering damper.

Thats what I wanted to do and Those are the part numbers I got. An aftermarket steering stabilizer kit with mounts should work.

I work at NAPA on Saturdays (Mainly for the discount) and we will not sell the cheaper line for trucks. For most cars it works just fine but I definitely recommend the better line for our trucks. I put a set of ball joints (the cheap line) in my last 97 and they were out by 10K.
