mech oil pres guage

i mounted a mechanical gauge for oil press inside the cab and ran line to the plug on top of filter housing, it seems to read the same as the dash gauge after warm up. is there a more accurate location to take pressure from or is the filter housing the same as the rest of the block. thanks, great site

It's more accurate than the stock gauge.
My understanding is the stock gauge has a 5 second delay in the electronics, that's why you see different at warm up.

seemingly way more accurate, in the morning the mech gauge goes up to 80+pounds while dash sets at 40, they both drop to about 22 @ idle after warming up but the dash gauge is misleading.

this is the stock location. just remember that oil goes from the pump to the filter housing then the rest of the engine. then as it goes threw the system pressure drops because every thing it oils is like a controlled leak. so it should show lower and slower on start up on the factory gauge because you have to pressurise the hole system before you see pressure where the factory gauge is. I would want to see were the lowest pressure is to know it was good (no worn bearings) then at the filter. 80psi at the filter is no good if you only have 10psi at the rear main.
