My 96 in the sig started smoking pretty good/bad; actually looks like a train or tug boat at low RPM but goes away at highway speed with the turbo spooled up.

Mileage is still 20+/gallon and had an oil sample done at Blackstone which came back good as well. Have always burned about 5% wmo which is mixed with diesel in a 300 gallon tank filtered to 2 microns. These are the original injectors and pump with a little over 270K on them.

My buddies said the injectors are shot. How can somebody tell? These have never been out and I would like to know what is involved with changing them to something new. It's always been stock as a daily driver which has never given me any problems other than normal wear parts. I may be interested in a slight performance upgrade but would like to stay out of the pump.

When folks talk about injectors I start hearing all sorts of numbers, it's like listening to a conversation in a language I don't know.

Go with the upgraded aftermarket injectors at Pensacola Diesel. Nothing fancy, just good for the money.

You can pull your injectors and get the pop-tested @ a local fuel injection shop.

how much experience do your buddies have? never heard of injectors doing that but could be wrong i would just get them pop tested. also has anyone touched your pump? you may just need to back the fuel off at low boost. if the injecotrs were bad if wouldnt clear up. do you have gauges? if so high EGT's. if you want a stock set cheap i have them. worked perfect when i pulled. just pm me.
