Max tire size for 97 3500 dulley
Just bought a 97 3500 4x4 , has 215 / 85 16 on it aand 4.10 gears, what size can I put on it so there is no rubbing or kissing between the rears , I will be getting a camper for the back so I will get load range E , any comments on size and type . Also this is my first 12 valve it has 80 000 miles on it (yes it is true) I don't know much about how to juice them up any comments on that would be great also ,it sure is a slug comparied to my 02 even when it was stock. thanks

i ran 235's on my 97 with no problems, they never touched with 80 psi in them. and i hauled loads as heavy as 30k gross. i run 285's right now with no lift and they don't rub in the front but i had to put on a 2" spacer in the rear to make them clear.

The 99 and earlier dually wheel has a smaller offset than the 00 and later.......235's are the absolute max width you can go....I ended up machining 1/2" thick spacers to keep the 235/85's from rubbing on my 98.5 - they would lightly touch each from time to time.....Anything wider and you will have to add spacers as Gunracer 1 mentioned.
