what is the maximum rpms you can get out of a 12 valve with a p pump. someone told me like 6000 and i said that seemed really high. but if its built is it possible?

 

At 6000 rpm piston speed will be nearly 5000 fpm. I would expect a failure from a stock crank and rod with in 10 seconds.

The piston is far to heavy to run that kind of rpm on stock components. With a light piston, strong rods and treated crank....it might survive for short term use in a race only vehicle.

You might also run into other problems at that rpm....cam harmonics, p-pump cant spin that fast with out coming apart??, etc.

 

yeah thats what i thought its really not reasonable. what is considered safe if pulling and such like 4500 max?

 

I hear some guys do go over 4500, but if you're gonna go over 4k, have you check book ready.

 

Guys are pushing over 5k on stock bottom ends. Fluid dampers seem to be required at that point, though.
