Manual to auto swap

Step-son found a 94 manual truck for $3500 with a fried tranny. He wants to put a auto in it. Anyone have any expirence in swapping to a auto from a standard? How much trouble it is, what's involved etc.

yea manual to auto is alot more involved than auto to manual. I still have all that stuff on my truck like trans cooler, tps sensor and cable and the column shifter etc... but I want to leave it because my next trans is gonna be a built DTT auto, and i don't want to have to buy that stuff again. All i'd have to do to go back to auto is get some driveshafts and be in business, oh and one cooler line that I cut because I got lazy, lol.
