Lucas magnum high tbn(14) long drain diesel motor oil, opinions?
Spoke w/a lucas rep about this oil. has a base # of 14. i was told this oil is designed for 15k mile oil changes, 25k w/sampling. $16/ gall.at oreillys. i usually run my oil 5k, w/this i'd probably run 10k. but 15 w/o a bypass? also, i've read that any oil w/the api stamp will provide the protection needed for it's designated service application.
any comments from the informed.

I've always smelled snakes around Lucas products... but that doesn't mean they aren't worth something. I did once use a jug of their Auto trans fixer to help a Caravan get to an auction...
For my general maintenance, I like to run by manufacturer's suggestions on fluids. If the intervals are to be exceeded, I would do some testing, even if just to find out if the baseline extension is compatible with your setup/driving style/etc.
