Low shift points

I installed a transgo kit in my auto and now the 1-2 and 2-3 shift points are at very slow speeds. Moving the throttle cable seems to have very little effect. Any ideas on raising the shift points?

Bump. After the install of my BD valve body the shifting was definately improved, but after the GSK I could stand a few more RPMs between 1st and 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. TIA

If the TV cable is properly adjusted, then the best way to adjust shift points, is spring changes, inside the valvebody.

Thanks. Looks like I'll have to recheck my transgo instructions. Good thing I installed a drain plug before I replaced the pan. Saves a lot of mess. Charlie.

if you got a transgo kit, and installed the heaviest spring in the TV valve assy, you might swap it out for the next spring down. Some have had luck putting a few turns on the PR screw to get some more line pressure, which will delay things a tad. Others yet, have put a bracket on the pan rail that limits the return rate of the TV lever. Makes the trans think you're putting more coal in the bucket than you are, and shifts later as a consequence. As I don't subscribe to the potions and lotions theories, I would make adjustments to the VB and keep everything running as intended without bandaids on bullet holes.

Feel fortunate, as most 12v owners CAN'T GET the darn things to shift under full throttle!! They would feel fortunate to have your problem

Playing with TV springs and/or pressure adjustments should get you going. Incidentally, throw the adjustment procedures out the window in the manuals. cable stretch and other factors may influence the end cable setting. Have a buddy hold the pedal to the wood and crawl under and grab the TV lever on the trans. You want it to be just a 1/16" or so from full rear position when the throttle is wide open.

My 95 is has 103k miles on it. It has a bandaid brace on the throttle lever, but It will shift under wide open throttle. I had thought I may have to replace the transmission some day IF it fails. good luck Jim
