Limited Slip Carrier Size Difference?

I am in the process of swaping out some Dana 80 axle parts and to my surprise the donor housing I got had a limited slip carrier in it! (It was suppose to be empty) My current set up has a open carrier so I want to swap over the LS, I have 3.55 gears and know that after 3.73 you need a different carrier is there any way to tell the difference between the two visually, by part #, or by measurement? The tag was missing off the housing so I can't tell. Thanks

There are 2 different carriers, 1 for 4.56 and under and 1 for 4.57 and up. You should be ok to use it unless you have gears greater than 4.56. When in doubt count the teeth and do the math.

On a Dana 80, the split is between 3.73 and 4.10.

correct. D80 if you have 3.73 gears you can run em on your 3.54 carrier.

4.10/4.56 sounds like D60 split

I understand where the breaks are at but how can I tell what carrier I have? Like I said in the original post I have a LS carrier that was in an unmarked D80axle with no ring gear on it and need to know how to identify the carrier so that I can find out if it is a 3.55 or 4.11. Thanks for all the replys.
