I'm changing to Amsoil Sever Gear 75W-90 in the axles. Do I need and if so how much limited slip additive do I need? I have a dana 70 rear. Anyone running this oil with or withour additive?

 

I would try it with out the additive first and if starets to chatter you can put it in after, I put the additive in with the amsoil and my limited slip doesn't work so good now. It slips to much.

 

After you change the lube do some figure eights in an empty parking lot.
If the rear makes noise in the turns add half a bottle of friction modifier, do some more figure eights.
More noise, another half bottle, no noise you're done.
It takes awhile for the modifier to work it's way into the clutches, be careful not add too much as said above.

 

Agree... start without and only add if required. Probably won't need it with the lube you're using.

 

I used Mobil 1 syn 75-90 gear oil in mine and didn't need any friction modifier.

 

I use Amsoil severe gear 75w-90 and have not had to.
