Lift pump tick

Lift pump tick
Lift pump is ticking on the 97'
Very annoying, under 1k RPM's it's pretty loud. I can push the primer in at idle and it goes away. Can this be fixed?? or do I need to just need replaced the lift pump. The truck runs fine and I haven't checked the fuel pressure. Will the ticking cause any other damage if not fixed right away.

It shouldn't hurt any thing. The spring that holds the shaft is getting weak and the cam lobe is slapping it. I wouldn't wait too long though, I suppose after time it could ruin the lobe. I drove mine from B.C. to TX after I heard it start ticking. Had about 295k miles at the time. I replaced it with one from Case tractors. Theirs has one fitting that is different, so I used my old one. It takes two gaskets. Instead of the bolts that are stock I installed 55mm long studs for reinstall. Way easier to get it all together.

Do a fuel pressure test , either way you may want to replace the LP , if something is coming apart inside , you do not want pieces going up stream to cause other issues .
I took mine apart and found that the check valves were coming apart , never did find any pieces .

Thanks for the reply guys. I just got my gauges and 5" exhaust this week. I'll just replace the lift pump along with adding the new goodies. This truck is bone stock and just clocked 100k mile.
