Lift pump replacement

Question Lift pump replacement

I pulled my lift pump and removed the brass fitting the fuel line to fuel heater attches to. What type of thread sealer can be used. would teflon tape work.

I believe you don't want to use any tape on the threads, as it can work it's into the system and wreak havoc, plugging injectors and things. You shouldn't need it with brass fittings anyway.

The brass fitting I removed had some type of sealer. The fitting is a standard pipe thread wouldn't it need something

I used some permatex

dont know if its right or if its wrong, but it worked well for me..

I used some permatex 2. I don't know if it was the lift pump or the very old fuel filter, but it runs alot better. really cleaned up the bottom end, and starts when you touch the key.

Really? Thats probably my next repair. Mine will sometimes start up and idle a little slow for a few seconds and then pick right up. Its got 185K on it so it could be time.
