lift pump probs with a 12v?
hey my truck was running like crap high egt's like 900 to 1100 and very low boost 5 psi. so i called piers on the go and they said it was my lift pump and so i called the nearest napa and picked one up without thinking hey 12v usually dont have lift pumps probs soooo i spent 170 bucks for seemingly nothing. but i got it put in by JH performance (BADASS! my truck was parked by nick damico's sled puller and another truck that was in diesel power!) JH said that it was probably my fuel filter BUT before they replaced the lift pump and fuel filter it had a tick since i bought it about a second apart and now its gone... so did my truck have a fluke lift pump problem or just a fuel filter problem since i bought it. i keep telling myself i didnt waste the 170 bucks on the lift pump
sorry if this is confusing i dunno how else to say it
Thanks Jared

A used lift pump can develop a tick with age. I guess it means it was getting worn out so you didn't waste money on a new pump. You don't want to be stranded somewhere. However, i'm not sure how long a pump can last once it starts ticking. I don't think it's critical.

A lift pump with a tick can last a long time, but when they do die you are normally stranded, at least I was. I had about 196K on my truck, original lift pump and the truck just died. There are a couple check valves that are non-replaceable components and if one or both go bad it will not pump fuel.
Mine ticked for the last 60,000 miles or so. Ticking can also come from other things like the overflow valve, from what I understand.

my truck has a tick to it but im sure its just the overflow valve, and i change the cheaper things before i move to more expensive thing, cause i don't have the money to be wrong on something with my truck, 1 more reason i bought a 12v vs. 24v i can't afford to have my truck down.
