lift pump fuel leak

I noticed a leak coming from the lift pump on my 94 12v,it appears to be coming from the plunger area. I removed the rubber dust cap and started the engine and confirmed that it is leaking from this part.Is this something that can be tightened or does the lift pump assy. need to be changed out?It does'nt feel as though the leak is affecting performance but with the cold temps. here in PA. it is kind of hard to tell.

There's a 10¢ o-ring under the boot that will sometimes fail. Take the old one out and get another at any auto parts. As far as I know this o-ring is the only part of the lift pump you can buy separately.

Infidel ,when you say under the boot do you mean to pull the plunger assy.out? As I have taken off the dirt boot and don't see provisions for an o-ring.I got back at her for a bit and tried to tighten the plunger but it only will rotate.appreciate your help,JD

I should have been clearer. Pull the plunger straight out, you'll see the o-ring.

Dodge wouldn't budge till I took them to small claims court. They didn't show up at court, I won. They paid $5000 to take the entire truck down to bare metal and repaint.

Instuctions on how to deal wih them here http://www.theinfomaniac.net/infoman...tepByStep.html

Good for you,I had a similar problem with an f-250 back in 91. After much griping they took care of it however they would only refinish it with an acrylic enamel product and not with a urethane finish. I negotiated with them,I disasembled and reasembled the truck and they did the refinish work, using acrylic urethane. I do collision work for a living but ford would not pay me or my employer to do the work, had to be a ford dealer (B.S.) oh well ,water under the bridge.
