Lift pump

First off hello my name is Sean. I just bought my first 2nd gen pickup. It is a 97 2500 long bed quad cab 12v 5-speed. what are my lift pump options with this truck? I can hear my lift pump ticking and it is driving me nuts. so I swung it to my local *********** and they quoted me 289.00 almost had to take a knee to catch my breath. does this seem right? I could have sworn I had read about way cheaper prices on it. with my older trucks I just rigged Holley blacks and filters similar to a fass or air dog set up. being those trucks only require 15 lbs of pressure this was simple. so what are my options here? are prices cheaper in other places? is it cause I live in liberal Washington st where everyone hates diesels? can anybody help?

STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, they are hosing you.

Not the absolute cheapest, but comes with both gaskets and the studs to make your life much easier.......

Larryb - Dodge Cummins 94-98.5 Lift Transfer pump, 12 valve

Next, forget any electric nonsense, the stock pump will support up to 600 Hp.

Also, the P7100 trucks require 25-27 PSI at idle, and 32-35 at WOT.......... I wouldn't freak out about it ticking, they will tick for a while before they die...... just order up a stock lift pump and replace as soon as practical. If you want to save a few more bucks, you can get them on fleabay, etc, but LarryB is a top notch supplier.

Thanks Pat thats what i wanted to hear. I knew that there was no way it was 300 bucks for one. i know from what ive read they will tick for a good while but to me its a foreign noise. im one that listens to my truck i can tell when something is amiss. i know our 12ers are not the quietest but once you are used to hearing the sweet song of a 12 thats all you want to hear. i am a first gen guy im just trying to learn about this new fuel system.
