Leaking Fuel Filter

Got a fuel filter from Napa and it was leaking. Took it off and checked it all out, made sure O-ring was on drain ****. Everything is where is should be. Put it all back on and now fuel is not leaking but spraying out from where the drain goes in the bottom of the filter. Ended up putting old filter back on and no more leaks. Anyone have issues like this before? Thanks.

I had it happen on mine, i checked, rechecked and triple checked, ended up putting a new water drain valve, think it was a $10 part. dont ask why, the new part and o ring looked identical to the old, leak was gone immediately.

I dont think it is the drain because the old filter with the same drain is not leaking.

Perhaps the new filter has a hairline crack that's hard to see.

I had a similar problem, have since switched to fleetguard filters and never a problem. i couldn't figure out why, i have try-ed Canadian tire filter, napa and bumper to bumper, never had a filter last longer than 10,000 klm till i started using the fleetguard and i change them every 30,000 klm

I would really like to get away from the stock set up as it is so much of a PITA to change. I dont really want a primeloc but I dont know what my other options are without spending loads of money. Has anyone relocated their fuel filter with a DIY set up?

Do you use the move the master cylinder trick?
Just remove the two nuts that hold the master to the booster and even though it doesn't look like it the master swings way over towards the driver's side giving you a ton of room to work on the filter.
