Lead timing

A while back there was a topic of lead timing on a rebuilt pump(from 5 to 6 degrees). This weekend when we checked the timing, the plunger lift was 6.4MM which by the chart is 16 degrees.Would this indicate that lead timing was in place or I'm I missing something? We just left it at that setting and didn't time the pump..

I think we found the problem...Have to check if we zero the dial indicator at TDC and added 6.4MM..

I think what you need to do is find the point where the plunger is at its bottom most point, record that dial indicator reading, lets call that 'B'. Then you rotate the engine onto #1 top dead center and record that reading, we'll call it 'A'.
Now, take A-B= plunger lift, now you can check your chart.
Is this how your doing it or looking for?
